When making a purchase, we encourage you to choose “PEN” (signing for your transaction) vs. PIN (entering a personal identification number).

There are several key benefits:

Merchants encourage PIN transactions because the fees are less than those approved with a signature. However, these transactions also tend to clear your account faster.
With PEN transactions (signing), the transaction may take a little longer to clear. Also, by eliminating the need for your PIN, you reduce the possibility of someone capturing the number.
By signing for the transaction, you’re protected under VISA’s Zero Liability guarantee and won’t be held responsible for any fraudulent charges.
